Melchizedek

by Robert Marshall
(Clinton Pa.)

Melchizedek was symbolic of an eternal Priesthood. He was called the Prince of peace as was Jesus. When Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek the Bible says that Levi, even though he was in Abraham's loins, Levi paid tithes to Melchizedek.

The Levitical Priesthood was not perfect, so it could not serve God perfectly. The book of Hebrews says that Melchizedek was born without mother and father. When a human is born into this world, they are born by their mother and father. When a human is born again into the kingdom of God, they are born again without mother and father.

God makes them born again without the help of parents. God said to Jesus; "You are a Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

And Jesus is our High Priest. God calls the born again believer Kings and Priests; so we are Priests forever in the order of Melchizedek, with Jesus being our High Priest.

Melchizedek, Symbolic?
by: Daniel

I find it interesting that so many Christians refer to SO MANY parts of the Torah, or Tanakh, as symbolic. Melchizedek was King of Salem & high priest of his chosen God. Like today, there were so many other Gods being worshiped, Melchizedek was high priest of his God. Melchizedek also gave Abram a tenth, Abram did not give him a tenth.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he was priest of G-d the Most High.

19 And he blessed him, and said: 'Blessed be Abram of G-d Most High, Maker of heaven and earth;

20 and blessed be G-d the Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand.' And he gave him a tenth of all.

And he (Melchizedek) gave him (Abram)a tenth of all.
