Abraham's Descendants Were All Hebrews

by Gerald Waugh
(Sun City AZ)

Abraham was a Hebrew. He was not an Isralite or a Jew.

Jacob was a Hebrew and so was Esau.

God renamed Jacob Israel. That line fron Jacob became Isralites.

Jacob had twelve sons. One of his sons name was Judah. Jew is a short version of Judah. Only decendants of Judah are Jews.

The other eleven tribes were Hebrews, Isralites and whatever tribe they were from.

When Israel became two nations, The House of Judhd and The House of Israel.

The house of Judah was the tribe of Judah, Benjamin and part of Levi. If you were fron those two tribes you were a national Jew.

That is why Paul could claim to be from the Tribe of Benjamin and be a Jew at the same time.

Abraham had several other sons and they were all Hebrews.

Abram the Hebrew-Jew
by: willyah

I would think that Abram a Gentile Hebrew became Abraham a Hebrew Jew when Abraham believed God Almighty's preaching the covenant of circumcision to Abraham, who then became the first circumcised Hebrew Jew in scripture.

The Israel of YaH, as that remnant Israel of YaH, all came from the loins of Abram, even Levi was of Abram's loins when Abram paid tithes to the first great heavenly man Melchizedek.

(Gen 14:18 KJV) And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

(Gen 14:19 KJV) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

(Heb 7:4 KJV) Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

(Heb 7:5 KJV) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

Abram the Hebrew

Abram the Hebrew (Gen 14:13) was a Gentile descendant of Noah (Gen 10:5).

(Gen 14:13 KJV) And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

(Gen 10:5 KJV) By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
